Kajetan Kajetanowicz leads his home round of the FIA European Rally Championship following the first stage of the Friday afternoon loop.
Kajetanowicz was 2.6 seconds quicker than Bryan Bouffier in the repeat of the Konieczkowa stage. That would have put him 4.7s behind in the overall standings, but an adjustment to the reigning champion’s time in SS2 – where he was held up by an off for Łukasz Habaj – has put him into the lead instead. Kajetanowicz had originally lost 13.2s compared to Bouffier in SS2, but has now had 10s awarded to him. This gives him a lead of 5.3s.
The main story of note on SS5 was a loss of battery power for Dávid Botka, who has now slipped to eighth behind Jarosław Kołtun in the overall standings.
